My Path to Practice

I’m a licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience in mental health, deeply committed to creating healing spaces that are grounded in justice, relational attunement, and collective care. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Rutgers University and my Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University—two institutions that shaped my early learning, even as I’ve spent the years since unlearning many of the clinical frameworks that left out culture, power, and lived experience.

Before starting my private practice, I worked primarily in public and nonprofit mental health settings across New York and Alabama, often alongside psychiatrists and clinicians who taught me the language of diagnosis—but it was the people I worked with who taught me how to listen. That time continues to shape my commitment to serving folks who’ve been pushed to the margins of care.

Since opening my practice in 2016, I’ve focused primarily on relationships—because I believe connection is both the root of our suffering and the source of our healing. I’ve had the honor of working with individuals and couples who show up with courage, complexity, and the wisdom of their own lived experiences. They inspire me daily to keep showing up differently, too.

My Approach to EFCT

I’ve completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). EFT is a deeply relational, attachment-based model that helps couples move from disconnection to secure, attuned connection. While the model is widely recognized as a gold standard in couples therapy, I approach it with ongoing curiosity and a commitment to adapting it in culturally responsive and liberatory ways.

I’m currently the only ICEEFT-Certified Relationship Therapist in South Alabama, and one of only two Certified therapists in the entire state. Certification is a rigorous, multi-year process that includes over 78 hours of training, direct supervision, and review of recorded sessions by an international board. But more than any credential, it’s the work I do with clients—each bringing their own stories, struggles, and strengths—that continues to shape how I practice EFT with integrity, depth, and care.

In addition to EFT, I often integrate somatic practices and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support clients in reconnecting with themselves and each other in ways that are non-pathologizing, culturally attuned, and grounded in compassion.
